Before you train
Good to Know Before Class.
What will my first class be like?
You’ll meet the team and get an introduction to the training. Coaches explain techniques step by step, and you can ask questions as you go. You aren’t expected to know the moves or get everything right. If you’re nervous, let us know—we’re happy to help you get settled. Read our first-class guide →
Do I need any experience?
Not at all. Most students begin with no martial arts experience, and our coaches will guide you through every part of class.
What is the difference between Gi and No Gi?
Gi classes use the traditional Jiu-Jitsu uniform and its grips. No Gi classes use athletic clothing and focus on grips that do not depend on the uniform. Both build the same core skills.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable workout clothes and sandals, and bring water. If you book a Gi class, arrive 10–15 minutes early so we can fit you for a uniform.
Am I too old or out of shape to start?
No. You can begin at your current fitness level, train at a sustainable pace, and build strength and conditioning as your skills develop.
